Scheduled Cultural Tours
A. Walking around town and sanshin performance experience
Walk Through the History and Culture of
the Islands with a Local Guide
Your guide is a local resident of Ishigaki Island. As you visit historic sites and cultural landmarks, you’ll learn about island life, local history, and traditions from a resident’s perspective. Discover the unique atmosphere of Yaeyama through the eyes of the people who call it home.
Listen to, Watch, and Experience the Spirit of Yaeyama Performing Arts
Rather than simply watching a performance, you’ll have the opportunity to participate yourself. Learn a simple dance or musical piece in a relaxed, beginner-friendly setting and enjoy a deeper connection with the culture and people of Yaeyama.
Taste the Islands, Hear the Stories, Share the Experience
During the tour, you’ll visit Ikemura Distillery, a family-run Awamori distillery with more than 70 years of history. Enjoy a tasting while hearing directly from the makers about their craft, traditions, and passion for preserving Okinawa’s signature distilled spirit.
